We're constantly on the lookout for ways to help make the world a more web & design-savvy place. This page is dedicated to compiling the resources we discover in our travels, and also a place to put the ones we've created for our clients. We've made them available to you (for free!) whether you decide to work with us or not (though we'd love to work with you), just 'cause we're cool like that.

Idea Market Web Development Process

Interested in seeing how Idea Market manages a typical website project? This website development process diagram gives an overview of the steps we take. Of course, it may not make complete sense on its own; give us a call and we'd be happy to explain things in detail.

Logo Planner

Our logo planner will establish the needs of your new or refreshed visual identity and the scope of the project, as well as allow us to create an accurate quote and timeline. To get the process rolling, or to get an idea of things to think about before hiring a design agency, fill out our logo planner (pdf) and we'll give you a call.

Project Management - Idea Projects

Idea Market works with project management software (created by activeCollab) which we affectionately refer to as Idea Projects. When starting a project with us we will create an account for you that allows you easy access to our project management headquarters. At www.IdeaProjects.ca you'll be able to start discussions about your project, upload files (up to an email-trumping 20MB) and make comments about things we've posted or uploaded. You can track the timeline, see where the project status is at, as well as be notified about the tasks we'll need you to complete in order for us to move forward with ours. In short, Idea Projects lets you be as involved with the process as you want to be.

Website Content Management Systems

What is a Website Content Management System (CMS)?

Paraphrased from Wikipedia: “A website content management system is a tool designed to simplify the publication of content to websites, allowing authorized users to submit and edit content without requiring any technical knowledge such as HTML.”

What are the benefits to having a CMS?
A CMS gives you direct control over the content of your website. This means:

  • You save money in the long run by avoiding hourly updating fees from your web developer.
  • Your site gets updated more quickly because you don’t have to wait for your web developer to get around to it. (View our screencast to see a quick intro)

Once these barriers to updating your site (cost & time) are removed, it will naturally get fresh content more often. This is good for your users, plus Google also loves it and will reward you with higher search engine rankings.
