Danish Canadian National Museum
Danish Canadian National Museum website
The Danish Canadian National Museum is the heart of Danish culture in Canada, featuring acres of traditional Danish gardens, the Freydis Joanna Viking Ship, the Thomsen Pioneer Cabin, the Children’s Garden of Imagination, the Dagmar Pioneer Church and much more.
By extension, their website is the online hub for Danish Canadians across the country. A big part of the project was creating a means of preserving the Danish Canadian culture by enabling Danish Canadians to share their stories, recipes and photos online. Some of the highlights of the site include:
- a newly designed website worthy of a national museum
- a user-friendly means for Danish Canadians to share their stories through online forms
- an event calendar
- an online donation system and place to pay for membership fees on the site
- launch in Winnipeg
- model for other museums
the Canadian E-Tourism Awards. Then we forgot to tell the client about it. Oops. Anyway, it turns out they won! Vivien from the Danish Canadian National Museum is in Toronto at the awards show at this very moment to accept the Best User-Generated Content award.
