Idea Market's interaction with the David Thompson Health Region began when they offered us the opportunity to be involved in the planning stages of their website overhaul. They needed someone to act as consultant and facilitator. What does that mean in plain English? They needed an objective third party to coordinate their efforts within a large committee, keep them focused on the agenda and offer solutions from our prior web-consulting experience and research on their industry.The project involved alot of stakeholder meeting time. The challenge in these types of meetings is accommodating a large number of people (or rather, their opinions), making sure everyone has a say while still keeping the meeting on track and gleaning useful information for decision-making from the discussions.
Additionally, we aided them in identifying and prioritizing their web needs, goals and user groups. We provided a competitive analysis: assessing other health regions' websites to determine the strategies that worked and those that didn't, essentially identifying the "best practices."
What was really great about this project was that there was such an emphasis on the planning stages. Too often planning is taken for granted, especially in web design. And as they say, "planliness is next to godliness."
