Today at 1:01pm, LA Radio Group officially unveiled their new station: Kraze 101.3. Billed as "Red Deer's Hit Music Channel", Kraze is focused on new music for the 18-44 demographic.
The logo process started through an examination of who Kraze wanted to attract, and how they could stand out amongst their radio "peers." Words we kept using in the process were "fresh", "energetic" and "vibrant" -- important to capturing our demographic. We felt that movement (or the implication of.. no animated .gifs here!) would be important to convey these adjectives. In our research we noticed that many of the existing radio stations in Red Deer had a consistent colour scheme running through them (red), and so we wanted to really stay away from that end of the colour wheel in order to stand out. Troy was inspired by the green/blue combination of the Hartfold Whalers' logo which we brightened up in order to stand out on black and grey backgrounds as well as appeal to a fresh, modern aesthetic. We kept the font of the logo simple and modern as well (yes, that's Helvetica), but created a "grunge" look to add some interest and dynamicism to the movement of the "swoop" and the bouncy, lively type.
Congratulations to Troy & Sonia at LA Radio Group on the new station launch (tune in starting July 24) and congratulations to Nicole on her largest application of a logo design to date!
