October brings with it the Travel Alberta Conference and the Alberta Tourism Awards (affectionately known as the ALTOs). Like last year, the Central Alberta Tourism Committee put in an application for the Marketing Partnership Award for their efforts this summer with the Alberta Sweet 16 .
Last year, we were bested by the Wetaskiwin Air Show. This year, however, October 26th proved fruitful as the Alberta Sweet 16 took home the ALTO! Our congratulations go out to the communities in central Alberta that make up the Alberta Sweet 16: we all have a lot to be proud of!

The Crowsnet Pass website has just been launched! The new site is a place where residents, businesses and visitors can easily find everything they need to know about the community and surrounding area. There's a ton of things to see on the new site: it's a great place to find local events, local businesses, information for residents, tourist sights, volunteer opportunities, a photo gallery and more.
The content management system we've installed and customized for them is going to make it easy to keep the site up-to-date. Check it out - we even made the newspaper [PDF - 335kb].

Idea Market is proud and excited to announce our newest project: a website and intranet update for Red Deer County.
About the ProjectRed Deer County requires major updates to their existing external website and staff intranet, including an updated content management system that spans both. Particularly interesting is the intranet side, as it will be such a vital part of the County's day-to-day operations. As a hub for all work information and communication, it will be the kind of tool that County employees log into when they first arrive at work and use extensively all day. We have some neat things planned...

We've started work on a new website for Realty Investments Corporation . A Red Deer company, they've specialized in commercial investment real estate property for over 20 years. RIC would like their website to be a place that they can send their clients for information, and they want it easy to navigate. We're on the case!
Since updates will be limited to once or twice a year, we'll take care of that for them. This may be the first non-CMS website I've blogged about! Stay tuned for more website projects starting and finishing.

The plans for an athletic park (including dressing rooms, concession, media/officials box, washrooms and equipment storage all housed in the "Fieldhouse") at Lacombe Composite High School have been underway for about two years now. The committee is at the stage where they need to amp up fundraising and feel that a professional website will be part of the way to achieve that. The Athletic Park will be built in a couple of stages, starting with the Fieldhouse facility, later adding lights, a running track around the field and then field turf finally in 2010.
Idea Market will be creating this website with a content management system (it's rare that we don't!) so the Lacombe Athletic Park Committee will able to update the site at will, and an events calendar which will be used to display fundraising events. Once the fundraising is complete and the project completed, the primary focus of the website will shift to showcase the events calendar, displaying the happening athletic activities.

I attended this year's SXSW Interactive conference (first timer!) with the goal of acquiring information that we could apply to Idea Market's practices. But what I found, was that much of the information I deemed useful could be practiced by any workplace, not just a design and marketing firm.
So, I will be passing along to you, oh faithful blog reader, tips which I hope you find useful in your workplace and your company culture. There's a few of them and I like to explain so I'll break them down into a few posts. This one is all about getting excited about your work:
Passion = Success
Ownership = Passion
Participation/Collaboration = Ownership
